Quick Guide To Fix Data Violations in Integrated Pets
Overview
After completing the integration setup, pets from your shelter software will begin to appear in the Pets > Available list for the linked PetSmart store. Some animals may require manual updates before they can be made available for adoption.
⚠️ What Are Violations?
Violations occur when a pet record imported from the shelter software is missing required fields.
These animals appear with a yellow “Integrated Pet” badge and cannot be adopted until all missing data is added.
🔍 Common Missing Fields
The most frequent violations are:
-
Adoption Fee
-
Breed
-
Sex
When one or more of these fields are missing:
-
The “Process Adoption” button is disabled (greyed out).
-
A warning tooltip is shown when hovering over the badge or clicking the pet card.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: How do I know which pets have violations?
Look for the yellow badge next to the pet’s name in the Pets > Available list. Hovering over it will show which fields are missing.
Q2: Can I adopt an animal with violations?
No. Animals with violations are not eligible for adoption until all required data is added.
Q3: Who can edit integrated pets?
All users with permission to manage pets in AME can edit and resolve violations.
Q4: What does the green badge mean?
It indicates that the pet was imported via integration and is ready for adoption — no missing fields.
Q5: If a pet is edited manually, will it still stay synced?
Yes. Manual edits do not break the integration. However, some fields may stop updating automatically if they are changed in AME.
